• Jagath Sumathipala was awarded with “World Buddhist Outstanding Leader Award” by the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY), in February 2014 , in Thailand, in recognition of his excellent services rendered for the uplift and enhancement of the Buddha Sasana.

  • Jagath Sumathipala was conferred with an award by the Department of Archaeology at an important conference hosted by the Department in 2013 in acknowledgement of his unstinted endeavors, high commitment and outstanding contribution made to the further development of the field of Archaeology. 

  • Under the guidance and the leadership of Jagath Sumathipala the 25th General Conference marking the 60th anniversary of the the World Fellowship of Buddhists (WFB) was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in November 2010. It was a resounding success.
  • The All Ceylon Buddhist Congress under Jagath Sumathipala’s Presidency and stewardship joined hands with the President’s Office in bringing the Jade Buddha (also called Shanthi Buddha statue) to the country for exposition in August, 2012, under the theme Jade Buddha for Universal Peace. It was created by two sculptors in Australia and Thailand and exhibited in countries such as Vietnam, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, England, Singapore, Taiwan, China and Thailand.
